The Axel Springer Academy in Berlin is the most progressive school of journalism in Germany. It offers a new type of vocational training for journalists focusing on crossmedia.
Alongside a classical journalist’s trade, the students spend two years learning everything they need to know to be fit for the digital media age. In addition to this vocational training, the Academy offers advanced vocational training for editors, is the new development unit for the organization, and is furthermore the creative think tank of the publishing company.

One major concern of the Axel Springer Academy is the support of journalistic excellence and creativity. An important project in this context is the SCOOP idea contest. Always wanted: New media projects of whatever type that distinguish themselves through creativity and originality. It's not important which media type or publication frequency – it's the journalistic idea that counts. Axel Springer funds the winning idea with up to 500,000 euros and gives widespread support to the project.
