Eco-performance indicators

Mill broke (photo) refers to printed and unprinted scrap paper. When the number of individual print runs and their associated additional machine starts increases, the proportion of non-salable printed copies (mill broke) rises.

The environmental guideline requires all locations and companies belonging to the Group, wherever possible, to avoid environmental pollution as well as to continuously optimize the efficient use of resources. To ensure the transparency necessary for control, the resource data from our own printing facilities as well as a number of publishing office locations are annually documented. For print production, the absolute values are related to the printed surface area in order to provide specific indicators.

The right menu bar provides information on the development of the consumption of printing ink, printing paper, water and energy, on climate-effecting emissions and the resulting waste.
