Printing competence in the West of Germany
In the Essen-Kettwig offset printing works the Axel Springer newspapers for the West German region are produced as well as titles from other publishers as a subcontractor.
The printing plant came into operation in 1973 as the biggest and most modern offset printing works for newspapers in Europe. A new building was constructed in 1998 with production facilities featuring state-of-the-art technology. An extension for it was completed in 2004.
Alongside modern production processes, the Essen-Kettwig offset printing works distinguishes itself through its commitment to environmental protection. About one million newspapers with different titles are produced daily in the Essen-Kettwig offset printing works.
