The management board is listening: WELT KOMPAKT editor Eckhard Balfanz (left in the picture) explains a suggestion for improvement to CEO Mathias Döpfner. Employees can explain their proposals to members of the management board in direct dialog on the "Day of Ideas".

Ideas management awards bonuses for proposals for promoting efficiency, occupational safety, environmental protection as well as technical and journalistic innovation. The number of proposals in 2009 increased from 1,632 to 2,373, of which 845 (previous year: 671) were implemented, resulting in savings of € 1.2 million (previous year: € 1.0 million). In return, we paid our employees bonuses of € 264,000 (previous year: € 277,000).

In August and September 2009, the Berlin and Hamburg locations each held a "Day of Ideas" for the first time. Every employee could present his/her idea to a member of the management board in a direct dialog without advance notification. Numerous proposals were collected and subsequently implemented.
