The machine commanders

As an Industrial Mechanic in the specialist field of Operating Technology you are responsible for the maintenance and re-establishment of the operational readiness of machines and equipment.

Your tasks

Your tasks comprise of the inspection, maintenance and repair of machines and equipment as well as the adjustment of plant to suit changing conditions. This involves stripping down and mounting components and assemblies, isolating faults, troubleshooting and the restarting of machines and equipment following functional testing. Throughout the whole of the vocational training period, the principles of the vocational education, the structure and organization of the training company as well as labor and collective bargaining law, employment protection, occupational health and safety, environmental protection and energy efficiency are communicated.

Your qualifications

You should have at least a lower secondary school-leaving certificate and good knowledge of German and mathematics. If you in addition have a basic understanding of technology and can work dependably and precisely, then nothing should stand in the way of your application.

In-service further training to become a Master Industrial Mechanic is also possible; furthermore a qualification as a “state certified technician” can be earned at the engineering school.

In addition we offer apprentices the opportunity of a scholarship upon the successful completion of their apprenticeship. Our scholarship holders receive a monthly grant and work in the company for three months during the semester breaks. The spectrum of the selected courses of study is large; Business Management, Journalism, Printing Technology, and Communication and Media Science are especially popular for example.
