“From all over Europe”: Axel Springer Plug and Play launches 5th program cycle

To press release overview

The accelerator Axel Springer Plug and Play has launched its fifth program cycle with twelve startups: Attensee, CarBeat, Coyno, CrossCloud, Dataspin, Foodscovery, LinkedAge, Omni Calculator, Passenger.Me, ReachHero, SatoshiPay and Sopreso.

The startups are already working at the Axel Springer Plug and Play office in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Details about the startups and their business models can be found at www.axelspringerplugandplay.com.

Jörg Rheinboldt, CEO Axel Springer Plug and Play: "We are happy with the development of our portfolio and for this program cycle we are very pleased that we have again increased the international background of our startups. They come from all over Europe, for example from Poland, Hungary or Italy. We are looking forward to supporting them and to working together in order to establish their business models successfully on the market.”

For the first time the participants will benefit from the Corporate Partner Program that has been introduced by Axel Springer Plug and Play. With the program the 46 startups from the accelerator’s portfolio gain an easy and direct access to renowned companies. In addition, the program offers an entry point for companies from all branches to further develop their network within the startup scene and to expand their digital know-how. As a first Corporate Partner Ergo has been announced, one of the major insurance groups in Germany and Europe.

Furthermore, like in the past, two artists have moved into the accelerator’s office: the video artist Cristina Moreno Garcia who is originally from Spain, but living in Berlin, and the Swedish video artist Jakub Simcik, who normally works in Leipzig. Both are represented by the gallery Eigen+Art.

For the next program cycle Axel Springer Plug and Play and its Corporate Partners are looking for media related startups as well as startups working in the area of eHealth, Connected Car and Share-Economy. Applications can be submitted via www.axelspringerplugandplay.com until December 31, 2014.
