AUTO BILD celebrates its 1,250th edition with a golden anniversary edition

To press release overview

Available from Friday, May 7, 2010

24 years of auto expertise: On Friday May 7, 2010, issue number 1,250 of AUTO BILD is published. Europe's biggest automobile magazine is celebrating its anniversary with a golden cover. The number of the anniversary is the editorial focus of the issue. The editors follow up questions such as what car buyers can expect of used vehicles costing 1,250 Euros, what traveling at the speed of 1,250 km/h feels like and how far you can get for 1,250 cents. In its anniversary edition AUTO BILD also compares the old E-Class Mercedes station wagon, which was tested in issue No. 1, with the current Mercedes E-Class (station wagon). This is complemented with a lottery having the new model worth more than 77,000 Euros as the top prize.

"AUTO BILD has been a success story for 24 years and 1,250 editions. Readers appreciate the magazine as a reliable guide through the jungle of brands and as a professional consultant on all questions relating to cars", says Bernd Wieland, AUTO BILD editor-in-chief.

AUTO BILD was first published on February 24, 1986, at that time still on newsprint paper. The magazine reports on topical, passionate and surprising facts relating to motor vehicles week after week, and was market leader among auto magazines from its launch - a position it still holds today. AUTOBILD currently sells 618,738 copies (IVW I/2010) and reaches 2.72 million readers (ma I/2010).

Since its establishment, AUTO BILD has developed a powerful brand family which includes the titles AUTO BILD ALLRAD, AUTO BILD KLASSIK, AUTO BILD MOTORSPORT, AUTO BILD SPORTCARS and AUTO TEST as well as numerous special issues. www.autobild.de, www.autobild.tv and mobil.autobild.de are the digital platforms of the brand portfolio. Today AUTO BILD reaches more than 40 million readers in 35 countries around the world and is thus one of the most successful international auto magazine brands.
