Axel Springer acquires stake in technology service provider InterRed

To press release overview

Axel Springer AG has acquired a 24 percent equity interest in InterRed GmbH. Founded in 2001, the software developer and technology service provider is one of the leading providers of editing systems, knowledge management and “multi-channel-publishing” solutions for the production of newspapers and magazines. Axel Springer has been using InterRed’s software solutions for several years, including its content management systems for various magazines websites, the marketing unit Axel Springer Media Impact (axelspringer-mediapilot.de), Axel Springer Infopool as well as the corporate website axelspringer.com and the company-wide intranet.

In the future also BILD and BILD am SONNTAG will be produced with InterRed’s content management system. The software’s flexibility allows an individual adaption to the specific needs of both media brands.

Lothar Lanz, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer: “By means of this investment in our technology service provider InterRed, we are intensifying this partnership, which has lasted for many years already. The transaction also represents a vote of confidence in their innovative software solutions. By developing and implementing an editing system for BILD and BILD am SONNTAG, which must meet the highest technology standards with regard to flexibility, reliability and quality, InterRed will become a major technology pillar of our media group, and also plays an instrumental role in the future development of a multi-channel publishing strategy.”

Beyond Axel Springer, InterRed’s customers are, among others, BASF, Lufthansa and Volksbanken.
