The European edition of POLITICO, a joint venture by POLITICO and Axel Springer SE, launched today Morning Exchange, a new daily morning newsletter focused on the intersection of regulation, policy and politics as it relates to financial services and market events in Europe. The launch is part of POLITICO’s continued expansion into global financial services coverage, which will be anchored by nearly 15 reporters on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, including half-dozen journalists in London, Brussels and Frankfurt.
Written by Chief Financial Correspondent and Associate Editor Francesco Guerrera, Morning Exchange will be sent to a readership of nearly 20,000 bankers, policymakers, regulators and investors each weekday at 6:00 am GMT / 7:00 am CET.
Robust Pro policy coverage of European financial services, including a Pro version of Morning Exchange, subscriber-only web content and customizable instant alerts, will debut in April.
POLITICO also announced two new hires for the financial services team of its European edition: Charles Lee, a former Hong Kong-based editor at the Economist Group, is named financial services editor; Silvia Sciorilli Borrelli, a former financial journalist at Citywire and CNBC, will cover the financial services industry from London.
Based in Brussels, the European edition of POLITICO covers the politics, policy and personalities of the European Union. With over 45 journalists in Brussels, Berlin, London, Paris and Frankfurt, POLITICO’s European edition is the first publication to truly connect the dots between the continent’s biggest power players. Its journalism lives online at POLITICO.eu; via POLITICO Pro, its policy news service for professionals; through daily newsletters, such as Ryan Heath’s agenda-setting POLITICO Brussels Playbook; in print via a weekly newspaper; and through news-making events. In January 2015, an annual ComRes/Burson-Marsteller survey ranked the European edition of POLITICO as the #1 most-read publication by EU influencers.
