To press release overview

Dr. Dietrich von Klaeden, 50, has been appointed Senior Vice President Public Affairs. Von Klaeden is responsible for the group-wide public affairs activities of Axel Springer SE in Germany and internationally and reports directly to CEO Dr. Mathias Döpfner.

In parallel with his legal studies, his doctorate and his legal training, von Klaeden worked initially as a reporter, correspondent and moderator for broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk. His second state exam was followed by positions as a lawyer and counsel for the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group, as well as press spokesman and marketing head of broadcaster Südwestrundfunk. Since 2007 he has fulfilled various management functions at Axel Springer SE, most recently Head of Public Affairs.

Von Klaeden follows Christoph Keese, 52, who will focus on a new entrepreneurial task within the Axel Springer Group.

Dr. Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer SE: “I thank Christoph Keese for his outstanding public affairs achievements and understand his wish to contribute his digital expertise in an entrepreneurial context. Dietrich von Klaeden can look back on many years of successful work with the Axel Springer family. I look forward to our continued work together, for which Dietrich von Klaeden – with his international experience, political expertise and excellent network – brings the ideal qualifications.”
