Personnel information: Editor-in-chief Tanit Koch is leaving BILD

To press release overview

Tanit Koch, 40, editor-in-chief of BILD’s print edition since January 1st, 2016, will leave the publisher at her own request by end-February 2018.

Julian Reichelt, 37, who is Chairman of BILD’s editorial office since February 2017 in addition to being editor-in-chief of BILD Digital, will additionally take over the position as editor-in-chief of BILD’s print edition and remain overall responsible for the BILD brands. Next to Julian Reichelt, Marion Horn, 52, editor-in-chief of BILD am SONNTAG, and Miriam Krekel, 40, editor-in-chief of B.Z., will remain members of BILD’s editorial office. Ulrike Zeitlinger, 48, will remain deputy of BILD’s editor-in-chief.

Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer SE: „With great passion and competence, Tanit Koch managed to complete an unparalleled journalistic career at Axel Springer. I was present when we won her over for Axel Springer during the selection process for our journalism school 13 years ago. Within a decade, she managed to climb from a journalistic trainee to the top of Europe’s largest newspaper. She has done an outstanding job for BILD, lately in the position as editor-in-chief. The constellation of responsibilities within the editorial office was meant well, but didn’t work in practice as this set-up didn’t suit BILD. BILD needs an absolute clear setting. We very much regret that Tanit Koch is leaving, understand and accept her motivation behind this step and wish her best of luck and success.“
